We spent our summer moving back to California, but before
we actually moved, we had one last weekend trip to
Cesky Krumlov, the UNESCO
heritage town in southern Bohemia, for the Festival of the Five Petal Rose.

the 5 years we've been coming, we have seen vast changes to the condition of
the town, and now only a few "original" (i.e. Communist-era) buildings
remain. |

| Derek is already in California, so we
were with Grace and Emilie only. In this town, even the Pizzeria's
have very old, interesting cellars! |
 |
| The Vltava river circles 98% of the town,
creating a virtual island. Quite a few people raft and canoe the
river, with the town and castle as a backdrop. |
 |
|
On the way home we stopped at Nove Hrady, just one of many castles in the
Czech Republic. |
