Burning Man 2005

Up

Derek and I attended Burning Man over the Labor Day weekend with some friends from Healdsburg.  Burning Man is amazing for many reasons, but one particular one is that in this camp - with over 35,000 people - every last watt of electricity is generated or produced via solar.  And, at night, it is a very electric scene!

The Burn          Night               Morning

Our camp, at Hysteria and 3:30.

Camp attire was casual (for the week).

The Clock Tower was a work of real art.

The MAN.

The Temple, which burns on Sunday night.

One of many propane artworks - a night display which was seen for miles.

This machine created magnificent smoke rings hundreds of feet in the air that lasted over 10 minutes.

Each evening the Lamplighters would go forth and light hundreds of lanterns throughout the camp.

Derek discovered that you CAN go forward by cycling backwards.
